Tuscany Cooking break (3 nights) - small group Guided Tour.

This trip combines cooking lessons, with tourist visits and wine tasting, including visits to wineries. It is ideal for those who want to visit the great Tuscan art cities independently on their own and want to add a long weekend of fine wine tasting and cooking lessons to their cultural experience.

A fine short vacation with the best of Tuscany pleasures: food, wine, olive oil, art and nature, living an unforgettable experience, in touch with tradition, history, nature, all in a small group.

3-nights weekend program, from Thursday to Sunday.
This tour is for a small group of a maximum of 8 participants.

DAY BY DAY ITINERARY

Day 1 Thursday / Castelfiorentino

Arrival to San Miniato in the afternoon, after 5 PM. We will pick you up for free at the Castelfiorentino Railroad Station from 5 onward, or at the Pisa Airport at 5 PM, for an additional transfer fee of Euro 30 per person.

Welcome at your hotel, where you will settle into your room after meeting your hosts. You will meet your fellow traveling companions at a Welcome Meeting with Aperitivo, where your leader will give you a briefing on what lies ahead on your tour. This is followed by a dinner at your hotel at 8 PM.

Volterra

Day 2 Friday / Volterra and cooking class

In the morning, tour of Volterra with its two millennium art and architecture, followed by lunch at a renowned restaurant.

Afternoon visit of a renowned winery and guided tasting of their best wines.

Evening cooking class by the chef Bartolo based on historical and traditional Tuscan cuisine, followed by dinner.

San Giminiano

Day 3 Saturday / San Gimignano

Morning cooking lesson in a farm-house by the Tuscan home-cook Emanuela, based on traditional Tuscan cuisine with special dishes using locally grown saffron, followed by lunch at her house.

In the afternoon, guided tour to San Gimignano, the famous medieval “towers town”.

Dinner at Le Boscarecce.

Day 4 Sunday / San Miniato

Morning cooking class by Loredana at her farm house, based on hand made pasta and Mediterranean sauces, followed by lunch at her farm.

Afternoon visit of San Miniato.

Departures in the afternoon from San Miniato rail road station around 5 pm.

We will take you to the train station of San Miniato, a service included in the price. On request, we will take you to the Pisa Airport instead, for an additional cost of 30 Euro per person.


Lodging: Le Boscarecce Country Inn

Massimo and Susanna’s family has owned and managed the Hotel Albion in Florence for four generations. Recently they lovingly restored a 200 year old farmhouse and its barn. The result is a stunning country inn named Le Boscarecce (little woods).

The inn consist in few rooms named for famous literary or historical female figures.

Weather permitting breakfast, lunch , and dinner are served on the terrace designed for repose and enjoyment of the surrounding landscape.

The sun setting over the Apennines is something to put in your memory book.

For guests’ pleasure are a large swimming pool, tennis court and for the more sedentary is a small library of history and art history books and a gazebo in which to read.

Note: for late reservations, if the above lodging is full, you will find arrangement at
Quattro Gigli Hotel or Vallacchi farm-house : all comforts, nice rooms and apartments, swimming pool, family run.


TOTAL PRICE, lodging in double room, classes, tours, transportation, meals and everything:
Euro 1,200.00
(per person, taxes included). Single-room extra Euro 120.
For your best enjoyment the tour is limited to 8 persons.
Changes to the program will be communicated to the participants together with the travel vouchers, and at that time approval of the changes will be asked for, last minute changes will be communicated at the reception.

Terms and conditions of payment and cancellation:

- A payment of 50% is due at reservation. The travel voucher will be sent after the payment has been cashed. This advance payment will be reimbursed at 80% in case of cancellation up to 30 days before the date of the trip, it will not be reimbursed for cancellations after the 30 days before the trip date.

- The balance of the payment is due before 30 days prior to the trip date. The balance will be reimbursed at 60% for cancellations before 20 days from the trip date. The balance will not be reimbursed for cancellations after 20 days before the trip date.

- Payments with credit card are accepted. Payments with cashier check, money order or personal check are accepted for payment of the balance.

Getting to San Miniato

Flying note: We recommend that you land at Pisa Galileo Galilei (code PSA) International Airport, check the convenient fares of RyanAir from London Stansted (STN). The airport is located near to Pisa and is the more common arrival airport for flights originating in Europe. For flights coming from North America there are easy connections in Rome, Milano Malpensa and Paris.
Transfer
from the Pisa airport to San Miniato can be arranged on request, at 5 PM, included in the price.

Train note: there are direct trains to San Miniato from the Pisa airport, from Pisa downtown and from the Florence Santa Maria Novella station, one almost every hour. We suggest visiting www.trenitalia.com for exact timetable information. Should you be arriving by rail, Florence's central Stazione di Santa Maria Novella is a hub for direct services from cities such as Milan (three hours), Venice (three hours) and Bologna (one hour).

Driving note: from Florence or from Pisa, take the S.G.C freeway, also called Fi-Pi-Li (Firenze-Pisa-Livorno), and exit at San Miniato. Not far from the exit there is the San Miniato railroad station, where we can meet you.
