This trip combines wine tasting and visits to wineries, and it is ideal for those who visit the great Tuscan art cities on their own and want to add a long weekend of fine wine tasting to their cultural experience.

An unforgettable intensive program, visiting some of the most famous wine areas of Tuscany, tasting more than 20 great Tuscany wines, always guided by a professional sommelier, living an unforgettable experience, in touch with tradition, history, nature, all in a small group.

4-days 3-nights weekend program, from Thursday to Sunday.
This tour is for a small group of a maximum of 12 participants lead by a professional sommelier.

DAY BY DAY ITINERARY

Pisa

Day 1 Wednesday / San Miniato

Your trip starts today with your arrival in Pisa, the city of the leaning tower and a gem in Tuscany’s crown. No activities are planned so you may arrive at any time, and you have the entire day available to you for a visit of Pisa, with its leaning tower and the "Campo dei Miracoli". The nearby cathedral and baptistery are also worth visiting. You can take a walk through the charming historical centre of Pisa and find yourselves now surrounded by local Italian students, instead of foreign tourists! There really is so much to see in Pisa, so if you are arriving earlier, plan to make a few discoveries of your own.

Arrival to San Miniato in the afternoon, after 4 PM. We will pick you up for free at the Pontedera Railroad Station from 4 to 6 PM, or at the Pisa Airport at 5 PM (for an additional euro 30 per person).

Welcome at your hotel, where you will settle into your room after meeting your hosts. You will meet your fellow traveling companions at a Welcome Meeting with Aperitivo, where your leader will give you a briefing on what lies ahead on your tour. This is followed by a dinner at your hotel at 8 PM.

Day 2 Thursday / Colline Pisane

Colline Pisane d.o.c. Guided visit of two of the best wineries of the area and wine tasting of Chianti and supertuscan IGT.

Lunch by one of the wineries.

Visit of the olive oil mill and extra-virgin olive oil tasting.

Visit of a renowned winery and wine tasting of their their Supertuscan and international wines.

Evening guided wine tasting class with four of the best red wines chosen by our sommelier, within a dinner with traditional dishes by the Orcio Interrato restaurant.

Day 3 Friday / Chianti Classico

Ride through the beautiful hills of Chianti Classico area, visits and tastings in 2 Chianti Classico best wineries plus lunch with selected wine in renowned restaurant with selected wine: Castellare di Castellina, Casa Emma, Volpaia, Castello di Verrazzano, Pasolini Dall'Onda, Caparsa, Cennatoio.

On request, for at least four-people groups, we may arrange the program with a different wine area tour of your choice on Saturday from the following list:

  • 1) Chianti Colli Fiorentini
    - Visit of 2 of the following renowned wineries plus lunch with selected wine: Castello di Coiano, Villa Pillo, Beconcini Leonardo, Montellori, C.M.Masini
  • 2) Chianti Rufina - Visit of 2 renowned wineries in the  beautiful hills of Rufina plus lunch with selected wine.
  • 3) Populonia - Val di Cornia - Suvereto
    - Visit of 2 of the following renowned wineries plus lunch with selected wine: Gualdo del Re - Ambrosini - Volpaiole - Petricci e Del Pianta - Rigoli.
  • 4) Bolgheri-Montescudaio
  • - Visit of 2 of the following renowned wineries plus lunch with selected wine: Poggio Gagliardo, Sassicaia, Michele Satta, Tua Rita.
    - Optional: visit of Ornellaia winery with wine samplings of their best wines (Euro 50 extra-charge)
  • 5) Montepulciano -Visit of 2 of the following renowned wineries plus lunch with selected wine: Cantine Redi, Cantine Crociani, Cantine Contucci, Boscarelli, Avignonesi.
  • 6) Montalcino
    - Visit of 2 of the following renowned wineries plus lunch with selected wine: Castello Banfi, Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona, Fattoria dei Barbi, Poggio di Sotto, Tenuta Caparzo, Sassetti, Poggio Antico.

Dinner at your hotel.

San Giminiano

Day 4 Saturday / San Giminiano

Vernaccia. Tour of the San Gimignano medieval town. Home made lunch in a farm with famous Vernaccia wines: Panizzi, Cesani, Montenidoli, Teruzzi & Puthod, Le Fornaci.

Our trip ends after lunch.

We will take you to the train station, a service included in the price. On request, we will take you to the Pisa Airport instead, for an additional cost of 30 Euro per person.

TOTAL PRICE, lodging in double room, classes, tours, transportation, meals and everything:

(per person, taxes included). Single-room extra euro 120.
For your best enjoyment the tour is limited to 8 persons.
Changes to the program will be communicated to the participants together with the travel vouchers, and at that time approval of the changes will be asked for, last minute changes will be communicated at the reception.

Terms and conditions of payment and cancellation:

- A payment of 50% is due at reservation. The travel voucher will be sent after the payment has been cashed. This advance payment will be reimbursed at 80% in case of cancellation up to 30 days before the date of the trip, it will not be reimbursed for cancellations after the 30 days before the trip date.

- The balance of the payment is due before 30 days prior to the trip date. The balance will be reimbursed at 60% for cancellations before 20 days from the trip date. The balance will not be reimbursed for cancellations after 20 days before the trip date.

- Payments with credit card are accepted. Payments with cashier check, money order or personal check are accepted for payment of the balance.

Getting to San Miniato

Flying note: We recommend that you land at Pisa Galileo Galilei (code PSA) International Airport, check the convenient fares of RyanAir from London Stansted (STN). The airport is located near to Pisa and is the more common arrival airport for flights originating in Europe. For flights coming from North America there are easy connections in Rome, Milano Malpensa and Paris.
Transfer
from the Pisa airport to San Miniato can be arranged on request, at 5 PM, included in the price.

Train note: there are direct trains to San Miniato from the Pisa airport, from Pisa downtown and from the Florence Santa Maria Novella station, one almost every hour. We suggest visiting www.trenitalia.com for exact timetable information. Should you be arriving by rail, Florence's central Stazione di Santa Maria Novella is a hub for direct services from cities such as Milan (three hours), Venice (three hours) and Bologna (one hour).

Driving note: from Florence or from Pisa, take the S.G.C freeway, also called Fi-Pi-Li (Firenze-Pisa-Livorno), and exit at San Miniato. Not far from the exit there is the San Miniato railroad station, where we can meet you.
